How often should I feed my puppy?

At the Doodle Ranch we let all of our dogs graze feed therefore, we leave food out at all times and the dogs can choose to eat when they’re hungry. It is all up to you, we have attached a link for a recommended feeding chart.

How often do doodles need groomed?

This all depends on personal preference, and how much you’re keeping up with brushing your doodle. Doodles need brushed weekly to keep their fur mat free. Some people take their dogs to the groomer as frequent as every 6 weeks, and some chose to shave their dog completely twice a year. You should consult with your groomer to find out what works best with your budget and your doodle’s coat.

How often does my dog need to go to the vet?

Your puppy will go to the vet once at 8 weeks for its first round of shots before it goes home. You should take your new puppy for a puppy check up within a few days of go home day to guarantee their health. Then your puppy will go for its next round of shots at 12 weeks, and the final round at 16 weeks. Your dog will need to go yearly for an annual check ups. It is always best to consult with your vet for what is best for your dog. We use Sunset Canyon Vet Clinic here in Dripping Springs, Tx and they are fantastic and know our dogs.

How much exercise does your dog need?

This all depends on the breed of your dog and the breed’s physical requirements. We recommend 60 minutes of exercise per day for your doodles. This could be long walks, runs, or playing fetch/frisbee. The Aussiedoodle’s may need more exercise due to the nature of the Australian Shepherd who were originally bred to be working dogs. Mind games are also useful to tire your dog such as treat balls, puzzles, and interactive toys.

What toys do you recommend?

Our dogs love Kong’s these help with puppy teething as well.

They also love the chuckit! balls these are their favorite for playing fetch.

Our Dogs are obsessed with these squeaky pigs it keeps them busy for awhile.

The Kong brand plush toys are also a great choice.

What treats do you recommend?

Our dogs love the blue buffalo health bars, and also milk bones.

Their absolute favorites are these rawhide chews. We only buy the flat rawhide chews, and never the rolled this could cause choking.
